How can you help?

During our past 6-month H/A tour of the churches, many have expressed wanting to partner with us in order to make a significant impact to the Chinese community in Peru for the Kingdom of God. Here are the ways one can take part in to supporting our efforts:

You can pray

We need you to consistently remember us with your prayers. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Pray that during our second term, the LORD will continue to cover us and everything we do with His presence and mercy.

This time returning to Peru for our second term, our primary focus/burden will be:

1. Growth & equipping of believers
God has prepared a number of believers who are dedicated to His service. However they are relatively “new” in their walk with Christ. I’m eager to go back to spend time and train these “potential leaders” then unleash them for God’s service.

2. Full-time worker for Chinese Restaurant ministries
There are several thousands of Chinese restaurants (“chifas”) in Lima. We cannot ignore such a large population who is desperately in need of the Lord’s salvation. We have started the “Chifa Ministry” for over a year now (conducting meetings after midnight in two separate locations). In order to make an effective impact, we need a full-time worker who is focused solely in reaching and serving the restaurant owners and workers.

3. San Borja Chinese Church/Community Center
In Peru, the Chinese people have many needs. The church must address their physical, emotional, social needs in addition to their spiritual needs. Recently the Lord has blessed us with a piece of property which is strategically located in the District of San Borja. Our vision is that this location will be the “new home” for the San Borja Chinese Church; but also it will be a Chinese Center where services will be provided to meet some of the prevalent needs of the Chinese community. Praise the LORD for this property and pray that He will use it to His glory.

You can give

1. San Borja Church/Community Center Construction/Remodeling ($150K USD)
For the purchase of the San Borja property (a 2-story office building on 3,600 sq ft land), we paid $260K USD cash (of which $85K were raised locally). The construction of up to two additional stories and remodeling of the existing structure will provide necessary space for the ministries/services of the Church/Community Center.

2. Car Replacement ($15K USD)
Our 1997 Nissan has broken down twice during the final months prior to our H/A. Upon returning to Lima, we’d start looking for a reliable replacement.

3. Peru Field Operation ($5.6K USD)
For the 2007/2008 fiscal year, all C&MA mission fields around the world will have to raise part of their support for Field Operation. Peru is no exception.

Should you feel burdened to support in any of the above areas, please contact us for further instructions (PastorMChang@GMAIL.COM).

You can go

1. Short-term
We continue to welcome STM teams to come and serve alongside of us. See attached Peru STM sign up schedule for 2008. Please note “possible activities for STM Teams.”

2. Mid-term
We welcome seminarian interns to come to Peru and serve with us.

We will eventually need Chinese speaking Christian medical doctors to staff the Medical Clinic. A team of doctors with each offering two to three months of their time and scheduling them back to back, we should be able to have a clinic open for business full-time serving the Chinese community.

3. Long-term
Lima Chinatown is in need of a full-time worker reaching and ministering to both the old and new immigrants.

Lima has several thousands of Chinese restaurants. This is an un-reached population too large to ignore. A full-time worker is a must to effectively serve this group.

Outside of Lima, Iquitos has the largest concentration of Chinese. It needs a full-time Christian worker.

To effectively administrate and operate the Church/Community Center, a gifted administrator will be needed.
