Peru Chifa Fellowship Ministry

Dear Chifa Fellowship Coworkers,

Last Thursday during our Los Olivos Coworkers' Meeting, the subject of the need to start new Chifa Fellowship Meetings in Lima was brought up. There are other areas in Lima that have concentrations of Chifas and are not being cared for at this moment.

The discussion caused us to see the need to write a summary of the chifa ministries in Peru.

Los Olivos Distric (橄欖區)
Since April 2006, the Los Olivos Church started a monthly Chifa Fellowship Meeting (from midnight to about 3:00 am in the morning). It usually falls on the 3rd Tuesday night of every month. The regular attendance is from 20 to 25 people. Occasionally we have special outreach program which could draw up to 40+ people. We have met nine times to date. The program around a midnight meal (宵夜) has proven attractive to the attendees. Various chifa owners, who are members of the Los Olivos Church, are taking turns to host the meeting. A "friendly competition" has been established.

San Juan de Miraflores (聖華區)
Also in April of 2006, the San Borja Church started a bi-weekly Bible Study Meeting for the Da-Pai-Dang (大排檔) chifa owners in the southern region of Lima which comprises three developing Districts (San Juan de Miraflores, Villa Maria de Triunfo, and Villa El Salvador). The Bible study is held on every 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. Unlike Los Olivos: first, the SJM Bible Study Meeting is held in an Internet cafe that is frequented by many Chinese immigrants to make overseas phone calls. Second, the immigrants here are most from Fu-Jian Province where those in Los Olivos are from Guang-Dong. The average attendance at SJM is 25 people including those who are leaders from San Borja Church.

Royal Special Outreach
After the 2006 Lima Chifa Evangelistic Campaign (March 2006), we returned to the famous Chifa Royal (富臨門酒家), not once but twice, to hold larger scale campaigns:
Cantonese Opera (粵曲新唱) in May 2006
The Story of 3-Sons (三個兒子的故事) in January 2007
Since the Chifa Royal is attractive and centrally located, over 110 people attended each time.
On the week before Easter Sunday, we have schduled another big event at the Royal, it will be on Tuesday 4/3/2007.

Please pray for the existing work among the chifas!

As mentioned at the beginning of this e-mail, there are other areas with many chifas that aren't being cared for, please continue to uphold them in your prayers!

Pray for more workers to start new chifa fellowship meetings accross Lima! And pray for someone who will dedicate themselves to full-time chifa ministry in Lima!
